Culinary Arts Co-operative Education

The Culinary Arts Co-operative education program provides work term opportunities where students can apply their culinary skills in a professional work environment.

All current Culinary Arts co-op students are registered and can access VIULearn. This resource contains the following information:

  • Employer lists and detailed information on potential co-op opportunities
  • Sample documents and material for co-op work search
  • Co-op dates and deadlines for all Culinary Arts co-op students.
  • All required procedures and paperwork for Cook 121/122 and Cook 221/221.

Applying for Opportunities

Current Culinary Arts co-op students can view active co-op job postings on the Experience Hub.

Before Your Co-op

Once you have a confirmed co-op position for the co-op work term, please ensure the following is completed:

  • Students need to log into the Experience Hub to activate their accounts during the first semester of their culinary program.
  • Once you have secured a co-op you will need to login to the Experience Hub and submit a work term record detailing your co-op details.
  • Once your work term record has been approved, a letter of agreement will be sent to your employer regarding the upcoming co-op work term.
  • All paperwork required for your co-op work term is located in VIULearn under the section: Co-op work term Documents and Paperwork.

During Your Co-op

All students are required to complete the following by your co-op work term end date:

Please note: All forms and assignments are located in VIULearn.

  • Complete minimum of 300 hours of work experience and complete the co-op hours tracking sheet in VIULearn or submit a final pay stub documenting hours worked.
  • Complete your co-op assignment: Work term Report located in VIULearn.
  • A Student Evaluation completed by your employer
