Throughout the MBA internship program the VIU MBA internship team hosts multiple networking events for students and employers. These events offer students a chance to practice their networking skills and meet employers in pursuit of securing an internship. Employers attending these events get the chance to network with other employers as well as meet students who might be a good fit for upcoming internship opportunities or post-grad employment.
Networking events vary in format. In the past we have hosted business mixers, multicultural teas, PechaKucha and Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce luncheons to name a few.
During the pandemic our networking events have been limited to online events but we are already planning potential hybrid and in-person networking events in accordance with both the BC Restart plan and VIU's Campus Restart plan, that are both entertaining and a source of valuable connections.

The Vancouver Island University's MBA Internship team are excited to announce our upcoming virtual event "MBA Talent Scout 2021".
With an expected 30 participating organizations and up to 180 engaged students across MBA and other programs, this event is designed to bring together employers, students, alumni, and industry associations to connect, engage and share employment and work experience opportunities, as well as, business intel to help students prepare for the future of work and alleviate the shifting demands or gaps in the new job market. Your organization was specifically selected for an invitation based on feedback from our students on their preferred industry, employer, and career plans.
VIU's 20 month full-time MBA program has been accredited by the ACBSP. In September 2020, we welcomed our first cohort of the newly revamped MBA program. This enhanced program provides a stronger competitive edge in navigating the technological landscape of tomorrow and a broader base of expertise across finance and marketing. We have a strong and diverse student community who have a history of actively contributing to excellence including VIU's victory in the 2017 National MBA Games. Our most recent cohorts supported organizations through their COVID-19 pivot via our Vancouver Island Economic Resilience Initiative (VIERI). Our students have on average 5-8 years of working experience in a wide variety of industries and will be seeking internships starting January and May 2022.
