Leeann Holroyd, International Counsellor

Hello and welcome! My name is Leeann and I am a counsellor in the International Department. I am grateful to be working at VIU and acknowledge and honor the Snuneymuxw First Nation for the privilege of serving on their traditional lands. I am eager to support a culturally safe and holistic wellness experience for international students.

All international students are welcome to make appointments with me to address any forms of distress, including cultural adjustment to the Canadian experience, homesickness, grief, loss, relationship issues, self-confidence, boundaries, and past traumas. I am trained to respond supportively to students having emotional crises, and/or have been diagnosed with mental illnesses.

I am a continuous learner who prides myself on adding to my current skillset. I am trained in several different clinical modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as deep-process trauma treatment methods.

I look forward to the opportunity to support students in their personal and academic success!
