Education savings help

The Canada Learning Bond (CLB) is a $500 grant offered to help you start saving for your child's education after high school. Additionally, your child could receive an additional $100 every year until they turn 15 years old to a maximum of $2,000.

Application

To receive this grant you must open a Registered Education Savings Account (RESP) though a participating RESP promoter with your child named as the beneficiary of the account. RESP Promoters 

Eligibility and Requirements 

  • Child is born on or after January 1, 2004 
  • A resident of Canada 
  • Valid Social Insurance Number 
  • Net Family Income based upon number of children in the household. Income Eligibility Amount 

The money can be used to pay for full-time or part-time studies in:

  • apprenticeship programs
  • colleges
  • trade schools or
  • universities

Additional Grants

 If your child is between the ages of 6-9, you can also receive the British Columbia Training and Education Savings Grant which is an additional $1200.
